What a fantastic nights sleep in a very comfy hobbit bed. Still, we had to (reluctantly) get up very early to embark on the next part of the journey. We bid farewell to Mr Butterbur, and headed off towards the Bree South Gate.
Rubyrae was at first a little disappointed at me when I started to aim abuse at Bill Ferny’s house. However, once I had fully explained what a horrible man he was, she was the first to suggest that we should upturn his cart, which we duly did. Aaaah so satisfying!
We exited through the South Gate, but took an immediate turn to the north, as if we were heading towards Archet. Not only was this the direction that Frodo and company headed in, but also we were reluctant for Ferny to be able to follow us.
We rested for the night on the outskirts of the Chetwood. We had our final meal of the day as the sunset, encamped in a small collection of trees. To my frustration, I searched desperately in the dark for my cutlery, but could not find them. Hmmmm I guess I must have left them back in my room at the Pony. But I didn’t mind eating with my fingers – we are living wild afterall!
